{"id":26155,"date":"2020-05-01T16:47:12","date_gmt":"2020-05-01T15:47:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=26155"},"modified":"2020-05-01T16:47:12","modified_gmt":"2020-05-01T15:47:12","slug":"ihbcs-covid-19-signpost-35-government-testing-access-summaries-include-those-whose-work-cannot-be-done-from-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=26155","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s COVID-19 signpost 35: Government testing \u2019access summaries\u2019 include \u2018those whose work cannot be done from home\u2019."},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>The Government has confirmed that \u2018anyone with symptoms whose work cannot be done from home\u2019 (including &#8216;construction workers&#8217;) is now eligible to apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/COVID19?src=hashtag_click\">?#COVID19<\/a> testing.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>GOV.UK writes:<\/p>\n<p>Our priority is testing patients to inform their clinical diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>We are also testing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>all essential workers including NHS and social care workers with symptoms (see the full list of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/coronavirus-covid-19-getting-tested#essential-workers\">essential workers<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>anyone over 65 with symptoms<\/li>\n<li>anyone with symptoms whose work cannot be done from home (for example, construction workers, shop workers, emergency plumbers and delivery drivers)<\/li>\n<li>anyone who has symptoms of coronavirus and lives with any of those identified above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, we are testing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>social care workers and residents in care homes (with or without symptoms) both to investigate outbreaks and, following successful pilots, as part of a rolling programme to test all care homes<\/li>\n<li>NHS workers and patients without symptoms, in line with NHS England guidance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This means anyone in one of these groups can find out whether they have the virus. Testing is most effective within 3 days of symptoms developing.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that these lists apply to England only. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own lists and criteria.
