Historic England (HE) recognises that the heritage workforce does not reflect the diversity of society and supports a scheme to help to improve this through training placements to people with Black Asian or Minority Ethnic Heritage (BAME), so if you want to offer to host a placement in your organisation in summer 2020 let HE know by 31 January.<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n
HE writes:<\/p>\n
\u2026 Positive action is one of the government\u2019s range of measures aimed at ending discrimination in the workplace under the Equality Act 2010 (Section 158). It enables employers to use training programmes to address under-representation of particular groups. In March 2016 the government published the Culture White Paper<\/a> and challenged Historic England and other nationally funded cultural organisations to develop and share strategies for improving workforce diversity. This scheme is part of our workforce diversity strategy and is in its fifth year.
