The Scholarship is now jointly funded by the Sir Ian Dixon Legacy, the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Worshipful Company of Constructors. The primary objective of the Scholarship is to enable companies to develop the potential of their staff through an open research programme and applications are now invited for the 2020 Sir Ian Dixon Scholarship.\u00a0 The scope of the Scholarship is deliberately wide with the intention of promoting a research programme that will provide development benefits for the Scholars, their employers and potentially the wider industry.<\/p>\n<p>Previous Sir Ian Dixon Scholarship research programmes have addressed such diverse topic areas as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How effective are contract clauses in securing sustainable outcomes?<\/li>\n<li>The pursuit of Innovation in construction<\/li>\n<li>The use of additive manufacturing in construction<\/li>\n<li>The UK\u2019s Forgotten Youth \u2013 training and employment opportunities in construction<\/li>\n<li>Eliminating disputes in supply chains<\/li>\n<li>Industrialisation in construction \u2013 a leading differentiator?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications\u00a0\u00a0should\u00a0\u00a0be\u00a0\u00a0sent\u00a0\u00a0to\u00a0\u00a0the\u00a0\u00a0Worshipful\u00a0\u00a0Company\u00a0\u00a0of\u00a0\u00a0Constructors<br be\u00a0invited\u00a0to\u00a0attend\u00a0an\u00a0informal\u00a0interview\u00a0and\u00a0to\u00a0give\u00a0a\u00a010-15\u00a0minute\u00a0PowerPoint<br \/>\npresentation\u00a0to\u00a0a\u00a0small\u00a0panel\u00a0of\u00a0representatives\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0CIOB\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0Worshipful Company\u00a0of\u00a0Constructors,\u00a0followed\u00a0by\u00a0questions\u00a0and\u00a0answers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Closing\u00a0date:\u00a029\u00a0November\u00a02019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Successful\u00a0applicants\u00a0will\u00a0receive\u00a0an\u00a0award\u00a0of\u00a0\u00a33000.00\u00a0together\u00a0with\u00a0support\u00a0and<br \/>\nmentoring\u00a0from\u00a0experts.\u00a0\u00a0They\u00a0will\u00a0also\u00a0be\u00a0invited\u00a0to\u00a0attend\u00a0The\u00a0Worshipful Company\u00a0of\u00a0Constructors\u00a0Awards\u00a0Dinner\u00a0being\u00a0held\u00a0on\u00a012\u00a0\u00a0February\u00a02020.\u00a0At\u00a0the<br \/>\nend\u00a0of\u00a0the\u00a012-month\u00a0scholarship\u00a0period\u00a0the\u00a0Scholar\u00a0will\u00a0present\u00a0their\u00a0findings\u00a0and
