Galliford Try and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) have developed an interactive card game, \u2018Construction Career Cards\u2019 to promote the breadth of careers in the industry, with Construction Career Cards – representing 40 varied roles within the construction industry \u2013 being used to engage young people with opportunities in the sector.<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n
Pbctoday<\/em> writes:<\/p>\n Created by Galliford Try, the cards have been produced in partnership with three other contractors from the North Wales Construction Partnership \u2013 Read Construction, Willmott Dixon and Wynne Construction \u2013 and funded by the North-East Wales Construction Training Group.<\/p>\n Support was also provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). Each contractor involved provided a selection of real images representing a job role designed to give a realistic insight into the role and settings individuals could be working in.<\/p>\n The Construction Career Cards are a quick, easy and accessible way to start a discussion about careers, skills and training, and can be played in several ways. Galliford Try has trialled the cards at a Careers Wales high schools event and a pre-employment programme at HMP Berwyn, and will be using them as part of its programme to promote careers in schools and careers events.<\/p>\n Ceri Rush Jones, CITB local manager, North Wales, said: \u2018The Construction Career Cards are a fun and informative way to learn about a diverse industry. The variety of roles on the cards show the range of construction opportunities open to people of all ages and backgrounds \u2013 something CITB promotes through our skills and training work in the sector. This collaboration is a very good way of raising the profile of construction careers.\u2019<\/p>\n Joy Woods, social value manager for Galliford Try North West, added: \u2018At Galliford Try we are committed to our Early Careers population with over 400 of our employees being either graduates, trainees or apprentices. Using these cards within schools will allow us to showcase our exciting industry and encourage more people to choose a career in construction.
