The School will look at economics, place-making, international and technical aspects of successful town centres and will offer a range of speakers, activities and tours around this theme.<\/p>\n<p>Further meetings are being planned, with more information forthcoming &#8211; the wider Branch membership is encouraged to participate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Looking for Professional Volunteering?<br \/>\n<\/strong>If you would like to get involved with Branch activities &amp; events, please consider volunteering for a branch officer post.\u00a0 The positions are not onerous, communications happen mainly by email and Branches hold meetings quarterly.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently several interesting Branch Officer positions available. These temporary homes were only expected to be in use for ten years but 70 years on they are still in use.\u00a0 There are no other known surviving Phoenix prefabs still lived in which makes these extra special.<\/p>\n<p>All but one of the prefabs are owned by Birmingham City Council.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-22645\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Wake_Green_Road_Prefabs_Birmingham_100519.png\" alt=\"buildings\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/>Back in 2014, Birmingham Conservation Trust became involved and commissioned an Options Appraisal on behalf of the City Council to look at the potential for the Trust to take on one or more Prefabs to run as a museum and holiday lets.<\/p>\n<p>In early 2017 the \u201cPrefabulous\u201d partnership was formed when BCT, the 20th Century Society and the Prefab Museum decided to join forces to work towards saving the Wake Green Prefabs.\u00a0 Funding was secured from Historic England was secured in May 2017 to allow the group to undertake a scoping scheme.This was followed up in 2016 by Lou Robson\u2019s \u201cConservation plan: Wake Green Road Prefabs\u201d which explored the context for the Prefabs and highlighted not just their rarity and their importance as a group, but also the rarity of their listing and the significance of their interior fittings.<\/p>\n<p>In spring 2018 the scheme was completed and negotiations are currently underway with Birmingham City Council to secure a future for these time-warp homes.<\/p>\n<p>Competences to be addressed:<\/p>\n<p>Professional:\u00a0\u00a0 1. The program will serve as a key catalyst for accelerating the ambition of culture and heritage actors to help the communities they work in to deliver on ambitions of the Paris Agreement.
