{"id":2392,"date":"2011-02-18T17:31:24","date_gmt":"2011-02-18T17:31:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=2392"},"modified":"2011-02-18T17:31:24","modified_gmt":"2011-02-18T17:31:24","slug":"wales-2-million-support-for-planning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=2392","title":{"rendered":"Wales: \u00a32 million support for planning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Environment Minister,\u00a0Jane Davidson\u00a0has announced funding of \u00a32m to support improvements to the planning service in Wales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Minister has also announced changes to the way the funding will be allocated.<\/p>\n<p>The new arrangements will see planning authorities applying for a share of \u00a31.75m of funding to support work that the Assembly Government has identified as being key to improving the delivery of planning services.<\/p>\n<p>A further \u00a3250k will be spent on work to improve the service across Wales, and particularly to develop the on-line\u00a0planning portal.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0April 2011\u00a0planning authorities will be able to access funding for work which improves local service delivery and is focused on three key delivery themes.\u00a0These are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operational improvements, related to the preparation of \u00a0local development plans, and improvements in the handling of planning applications.<\/li>\n<li>Improving local planning authorities\u2019 \u00a0capacity to enable better local delivery of the key policy priorities of the Assembly Government.<\/li>\n<li>Securing technical assistance, to enable local planning authorities to thoroughly assess renewable energy and waste treatment applications reflecting Assembly Government priorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Minister also confirmed that there would be no increase in planning application fees in Wales from\u00a01 April 2011, but indicated that the\u00a0Welsh Assembly Government\u00a0was\u00a0likely to consult later this year on how the current planning fee structure could be rationalised to better reflects improvements to\u00a0the planning application process.<\/p>\n<p>Wales Gov News: <a href=\"http:\/\/wales.gov.uk\/newsroom\/planning\/2011\/110211planning\/;jsessionid=BpMwNhxCfXJRv0pTkqSnkrTNqHvZhTWwLk2MvLffTT88wXSQVGlh!1037662982?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Search Planning Portal: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planningportal.gov.uk\/general\/news\/stories\/2011\/feb11\/17feb11\/170211_7\" target=\"_blank\">LINK<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Environment Minister,\u00a0Jane Davidson\u00a0has announced funding of \u00a32m to support improvements to the planning service in Wales.
