{"id":237,"date":"2009-01-20T17:54:34","date_gmt":"2009-01-20T17:54:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=237"},"modified":"2010-03-22T17:55:01","modified_gmt":"2010-03-22T17:55:01","slug":"new-report-on-historic-environment-infrastructure-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=237","title":{"rendered":"New report on Historic Environment Infrastructure in Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The outgoing advisory body to the Scottish government on  Historic Environment issues, the Historic Environment Advisory Council  for Scotland (HEACS) submitted its final Report and recommendations on  the infrastructure of the historic environment<br \/>\n<a title=\"http:\/\/www.heacs.org.uk\/newsreleases\/2008\/infrastructure.htm\" href=\"http:\/\/www.heacs.org.uk\/newsreleases\/2008\/infrastructure.htm\">http:\/\/www.heacs.org.uk\/newsreleases\/2008\/infrastructure.htm <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The final report:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022characterises the diverse range of  organisations that make up the sector as a whole;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022traces the development of the historic  environment voluntary sector;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022analyses the characteristics of  effective infrastructure or intermediary bodies;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022assesses the current infrastructure for  the historic environment; and finally,<\/p>\n<p>\u2022considers future infrastructural  provision for the sector.<\/p>\n<p>A separate report by Volunteer  Development Scotland has quantified and characterised the very  significant contribution of volunteers working in the historic  environment. From the 233 organisations which participated in the  research (26% response rate), it was found that some 12,500 volunteers  carry out almost 168,000 hours per month.
