The AGM Minutes have been posted on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/branches\/s_east\/index.html\">IHBC Branch webpage<\/a> along with details of the new Committee membership.<\/p>\n<p>South-East Branch\u2019s IHBC 2020 working group met on 24 April in Tunbridge Wells to further develop plans for the IHBC Annual School that they will be hosting in Brighton in June 2020; the focus will be on town centres and titled, <em>Old Towns: New Futures<\/em>. There was a really positive buzz at the session, people felt a lot more confident about the application on leaving the Saturday morning seminar.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>One of the attendees said: \u2018It was a really helpful and supportive event. I have a much greater understanding of what I need to do to progress to full membership. It has helped me plan targeted CPD to achieve this goal. I found talking to other candidates invaluable and appreciating I\u2019m not the only one with limited experience.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the MATE (Membership Application Training Event) seminar is to help demystify the accreditation process. The buildings illustrate a wide range of structures and local building materials used at the various periods. These temporary homes were only expected to be in use for ten years but 70 years on they are still in use.\u00a0 There are no other known surviving Phoenix prefabs still lived in which makes these extra special.<\/p>\n<h6><em>image:\u00a0Wake Green Road Prefabs<\/em><\/h6>\n<p>All but one of the prefabs are owned by Birmingham City Council.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2014, Birmingham Conservation Trust became involved and commissioned an Options Appraisal on behalf of the City Council to look at the potential for the Trust to take on one or more Prefabs to run as a museum and holiday lets.<\/p>\n<p>In early 2017 the \u201cPrefabulous\u201d partnership was formed when BCT, the 20th Century Society and the Prefab Museum decided to join forces to work towards saving the Wake Green Prefabs.\u00a0 Funding was secured from Historic England was secured in May 2017 to allow the group to undertake a scoping scheme.This was followed up in 2016 by Lou Robson\u2019s \u201cConservation plan: Wake Green Road Prefabs\u201d which explored the context for the Prefabs and highlighted not just their rarity and their importance as a group, but also the rarity of their listing and the significance of their interior fittings.<\/p>\n<p>In spring 2018 the scheme was completed and negotiations are currently underway with Birmingham City Council to secure a future for these time-warp homes.<\/p>\n<p>Competences to be addressed:<br \/>\nProfessional:\u00a0\u00a0 1.
