The AGM Minutes were agreed and will be posted on the IHBC Branch webpage along with details of the new Committee membership. They discussed a range of possible future training events including a potential visit to Sussex Bricks, a talk by Chair, Duncan Philips on his new RICS Historic Building Conservation guidance note, a session on \u201cconsistency in decision making\u201d and a talk on BS 7913:2013 Guide to the Conservation of Historic Buildings.<\/p>\n<p>South-East Branch has also set up an IHBC 2020 working group who met on 13 March to develop plans for the IHBC Annual School that they will be hosting in Brighton in June 202; the focus will be on town centres and titled, <em>Old Towns: New Futures<\/em>. The School will look at economics, place-making, international and technical aspects of successful town centres and will offer a range of speakers, activities and tours around this theme.<\/p>\n<p>The group will be holding regular meetings across the region to develop proposals to provide the Branch membership with the opportunity to become involved in developing the plans. The next meeting will be in Tunbridge Wells on 24 April and they plan to hold further meetings in Surrey, West Sussex and also in Brighton &#8211; the wider Branch membership is encouraged to participate.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Kate_Kendall_IHBC_MATE_070219.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-21800\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Kate_Kendall_IHBC_MATE_070219.png\" alt=\"person\" width=\"148\" height=\"228\" \/><\/a>IHBC MATE<\/span><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explore creative ways to guide your IHBC accreditation to Full Membership<\/li>\n<li>Look out for sessions in your area<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The next MATE session will be hosted by the Yorkshire Branch on 30th March, following a very successful seminar held in November.<\/p>\n<p>Kate said: \u2018It was great to head up to York to talk to prospective full members of IHBC and help demystify the application process. There was a really positive buzz at the session, people felt a lot more confident about the application on leaving the Saturday morning seminar.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>One of the attendees said: \u2018It was a really helpful and supportive event. I have a much greater understanding of what I need to do to progress to full membership. It has helped me plan targeted CPD to achieve this goal. I found talking to other candidates invaluable and appreciating I\u2019m not the only one with limited experience.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the MATE (Membership Application Training Event) seminar is to help demystify the accreditation process. The talk will be power point illustrated and will give every opportunity to question and discuss as we progress.
