{"id":2186,"date":"2010-12-17T18:21:58","date_gmt":"2010-12-17T18:21:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=2186"},"modified":"2010-12-17T18:21:58","modified_gmt":"2010-12-17T18:21:58","slug":"hlf-seeks-trustee-for-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=2186","title":{"rendered":"HLF seeks Trustee for Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">A Trustee for Scotland is being sought to join the Board of the  Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) \/ National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF)  with closing date of 5 January 2011.<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThis is an opportunity to play a vital role in the future of the two Funds.<\/p>\n<p>The Trustee for Scotland is an important member of the UK-wide Board,  representing NHMF\/HLF in Scotland and representing the interests of  Scotland in Board discussions. \u00a0The successful appointee will actively  engage with stakeholders in the heritage and cultural sectors in  Scotland and with the Scottish Government. \u00a0The Trustee for Scotland  also chairs the Heritage Lottery Fund Committee for Scotland and is a  deputy Chair of the UK Board, along with the Trustees for Wales and for  Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>The successful applicant will have a broad appreciation of Scotland\u2019s  heritage and a commitment to promoting public understanding and  enjoyment of it to the widest possible audience, together with a strong  record of leadership and achievement in Scotland, and skills in  strategic and analytical thinking, influencing and communication.<\/p>\n<p>The HLF\/NHMF Chair and 14 Trustees are appointed by the Prime Minister.  \u00a0They receive advice from officers and heritage experts and work within  laws made by Parliament and directions given by Government. \u00a0Their  decisions about individual applications and matters of policy are made  entirely independently.<\/p>\n<p>The HLF\/NHMF Board set the strategic and policy framework within which  grants to benefit the heritage of the UK are awarded. \u00a0The Board  determines the Strategic Plan and annual Business Plan, which sets out  the activities which enable the HLF\/NHMF Funds to deliver their  strategies.<\/p>\n<p>The Trustee for Scotland has particular responsibility for representing  NHMF\/HLF in Scotland and for representing the interests of Scotland at  the Board. \u00a0The successful appointee will be required to actively engage  with stakeholders in the heritage and cultural sectors in Scotland and  with the Scottish Government. \u00a0He\/she can expect to be in regular  contact with staff in the Fund&#8217;s Edinburgh office, and in particular the  Head of HLF in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The Trustee for Scotland will need to give around five days per month to  HLF\/NHMF business, plus time to read the necessary papers. \u00a0This  includes around three days per month for HLF business in Scotland. \u00a0Some  visits and project openings may occur outside normal working hours.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment will be for three years in the first instance. \u00a0The  trustee will be entitled to claim an allowance of \u00a320,749 per year,  which will be paid monthly.<\/p>\n<p>The successful applicant will be invited to attend their first meeting  of the Board on 22 March 2011. \u00a0Appointment will be effective from March  2011.
