\"BEFS<\/a>Built Environment Forum Scotland (BEFS) has called on stakeholders and colleagues to input to recent Tenement Maintenance recommendations considered central to improving how owners maintain communal property, to be sent to research@befs.org.uk<\/a> before the closing date of 27 February.<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

BEFS Director Euan Leitch said: \u2018BEFS provides the secretariat function to the Scottish Parliamentary Working Group on Tenement Maintenance which has recently published interim recommendations that it sees as central to improving how owners maintain communal property\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018There are three principle recommendations: statutory building inspections, owners associations and sinking funds all required to achieve culture change.\u2019<\/p>\n

The working groups would welcome notes of support and robust critique by 27\u00a0February.<\/p>\n

The Working Group writes:<\/p>\n

The Scottish Parliamentary Working Group has been meeting since March 2018 with the purpose of establishing solutions to aid, assist and compel owners of tenement properties to maintain their buildings. Membership and minutes of the group meetings are listed below.<\/p>\n

On 16th January 2019 the working group published\u00a0interim recommendations<\/a>\u00a0to enhance the ability of tenement owners to work collectively encouraging and enabling effective maintenance and repair of their properties.\u00a0 The working group are seeking responses to these recommendations.<\/p>\n

The three recommendations are interrelated with each being necessary to achieve culture change and long-term benefits for owners and properties. Full details of the recommendations are in these documents:<\/p>\n
