{"id":21515,"date":"2019-01-29T17:30:59","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T17:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=21515"},"modified":"2019-01-29T17:30:59","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T17:30:59","slug":"ihbc-president-calls-on-members-to-nominate-for-marsh-awards-successful-learning-and-retired-ihbc-community-contribution-closing-soon-28-feb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=21515","title":{"rendered":"IHBC President calls  on members to nominate for Marsh Awards: Successful Learning and Retired IHBC Community Contribution: Closing SOON (28 Feb)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IHBC_Marsh_website.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-17620\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/IHBC_Marsh_website.png\" alt=\"IHBC Marsh Awards website\" width=\"250\" height=\"193\" \/><\/a>IHBC President David McDonald is encouraging members to consider nominations for the newly launched Marsh Awards for Successful Learning in Heritage Skills and for Community Contribution (Retired Member of the IHBC).<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The<u><a href=\"http:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/marshawards\/\">\u00a0IHBC\u2019s Marsh Awards<\/a><\/u>, developed in partnership with the\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshchristiantrust.org\/\">Marsh Christian Trust<\/a><\/u>, enters its fourth year with the promotion of the 2019 Awards \u2013 celebrating \u2018Retired IHBC members\u2019 and \u2018New learners in heritage practice\u2019 \u2013 with prizes for each that include \u00a3500 and a free place at the IHBC\u2019s\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/nottingham2019.ihbc.org.uk\/\">Annual School \u2013 Nottingham 2019<\/a><\/u>\u00a0\u2013 with a closing date of 28 February 2019.<\/p>\n<p>David McDonald said: \u2018The nomination process is extremely simple, while the winners are recognised with cash awards of \u00a3500 and a free full place at the IHBC\u2019s Annual School every June, where we present the awards. For learners, both the funding and the education from the School could be a critical step-up in their trade or career. For retired members of the IHBC (all categories), if the cash is not a priority, it could be donated to another deserving cause, as well as raising its profile.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So please do consider promoting nominations or, for someone deserving that you know, completing the easy-fill form yourself, for one or both awards, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.wufoo.com\/forms\/mlv4vgj1fuq5zz\/\">Retired IHBC<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.wufoo.com\/forms\/mqizoec0psb24r\/\">Learning<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u2018It does take a little effort, but could make all the difference to someone\u2019s life skills or cherished projects.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Awards and How to Apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The IHBC\u00a0<em>Marsh Award for Community Contribution (Retired Member)<\/em>celebrates the contribution of a retired IHBC member to the community (e.g. through BPT involvement, neighbourhood planning, civic and local trusts with heritage interests).<\/li>\n<li>The IHBC\u00a0<em>Marsh Award for Successful Learning in Heritage Skills<\/em>recognises the potential of an individual based on their significant learning in traditional building activities and craft skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both awards support the IHBC\u2019s work as we help keep the essential conservation skills and knowledge alive through training, teaching, shared experience and example.<\/p>\n<p>Each award is marked by a certificate, and a free residential place at the IHBC\u2019s renowned Annual School in June each year, worth about \u00a3500, and \u00a3500 cash, with contributed or the skills mastered (max 500 words),<\/li>\n<li>how the individual made a difference to the benefit of the historic environment and\/ or community through these activities or skills.<\/li>\n<li>supporting information, such as a pictures, documents or website references relating to the nomination, which can be uploaded to the online form or included with the postal
