{"id":21356,"date":"2019-01-15T16:54:37","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T16:54:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=21356"},"modified":"2019-01-15T16:54:37","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T16:54:37","slug":"ihbc-celebrates-2016-gus-astley-student-award-trustee-selection-winner-now-in-print-on-lighthouses-as-machines-for-living-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=21356","title":{"rendered":"IHBC celebrates 2016 Gus Astley Student Award \u2018Trustee selection\u2019 winner now in print: On lighthouses as \u2018machines for living in\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16042\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/GASA_logo_silver-e1513360439415.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"161\" \/>The IHBC has welcomed the publication by 2016 IHBC Student Award \u2018Trustee Selection\u2019, Tom Nancollas, of his book based on the dissertation <em>\u2018A machine for living in: appraising the rock lighthouse interior, 1800-1905\u2019<\/em>, presented on the IHBC recognised course in the School of Architecture and Landscape at Kingston University.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Bob Kindred IHBC research consultant and trustee of the Gus Astley Memorial Fund said: \u2018The Institute is very pleased to note that a former recipient of one of the Gus Astley Awards at the 2017 IHBC Annual School in Manchester, Tom Nancollas, has developed his dissertation into a well-received, recently published book.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018His dissertation,<em> \u2018A machine for living in: appraising the rock lighthouse interior, 1800-1905\u2019 <\/em>&#8211;
