{"id":20608,"date":"2018-10-26T17:13:54","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T16:13:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=20608"},"modified":"2018-10-26T17:13:54","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T16:13:54","slug":"he-ihbc-sw-branch-and-partners-conference-reducing-risk-of-fire-in-thatched-buildings-13-nov-exeter-free-but-book-by-9-nov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=20608","title":{"rendered":"HE, IHBC SW Branch and partners conference: &#8216;Reducing risk of fire in thatched buildings&#8217;, 13 Nov, Exeter; Free, but book by 9 Nov!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Thatched_building_Devon_241018.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-20609\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Thatched_building_Devon_241018.png\" alt=\"building\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a>Historic\u00a0England [HE] in\u00a0partnership with the IHBC&#8217;s South West (SW) Branch and Devon &amp; Somerset Fire &amp; Rescue Service, are hosting a free conference on &#8216;Reducing risk of fire in thatched buildings&#8217;, in\u00a0Exeter on 13 November, with booking closing on 9 November.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Alison Henry, Senior Architectural Conservator at Historic England and an IHBC member, said: \u2018This one day event, organised by Historic England, the South West Branch of the\u00a0IHBC, and Devon &amp; Somerset Fire &amp; Rescue Service, will present the results of recent research into the causes of thatch fires, explain new guidance to reduce the risk and consider the implications for listed buildings.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The issues that arise in the aftermath of a fire will also be discussed and there will be a demonstration of fire-fighting techniques for thatched roofs\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>IHBC SW Branch writes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The day is aimed primarily at conservation officers and other building conservation professionals, thatchers, thatched-property owners, fire-fighters and installers of wood-burning stoves.
