Ingval Maxwell said: \u2018It is a great honour to be asked to judge the Gus Astley Student Award.\u00a0 I look forward very much to immersing myself in the educational and research priorities that the historic and built environment conservation professionals in the IHBC seek to celebrate.\u2019<\/p>\n

IHBC Chair James Caird said: \u2018We feel very privileged to have Ingval serve as this year\u2019s judge for our increasingly prestigious annual Gus Astley Student Awards.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Ingval is particularly strong on education and training standards across the sector.\u00a0 This, alongside his legacy of experience in the conservation and heritage sectors \u2013 including as past Director of Technical Conservation at the former Historic Scotland (now Historic Environment Scotland) \u2013 means that he is perfectly placed to address the challenges of being our Awards judge for 2018.\u2019<\/p>\n

Bob Kindred IHBC\u2019s Research Consultant and a trustee and Chair of the Gus\u00a0Astley Fund that underpins the award, said: \u2018Our Student Award\u00a0is now\u00a0in its 12th year and\u00a0since 2008\u00a0many excellent submissions have been received. The awards are\u00a0open to outstanding items of taught-coursework, and encourages the promotion of best practice, raises standards, and helps those in the early stages of their careers\u00a0where the final significance of shortlisting for the Awards is increasingly recognised by employers.<\/p>\n

‘As our Student Award celebrates excellence in conservation\u2013related course work, Ingval\u2019s background in conservation management, research, training and education aligns perfectly with the priorities of the IHBC, not least in promoting practice\u00a0standards\u00a0across\u00a0the historic environment as it helps drive urban and rural regeneration.<\/p>\n

2019 Award update
\n<\/strong>The IHBC\u2019s next annual Gus Astley Student Award closes on 31 July 2019, so if you have relevant coursework from any UK taught course \u2013 under-graduate or post-graduate, from 2018 OR 2019 \u2013 be sure to submit it online and on time to have a chance to receive their prizes at the IHBC\u2019s Annual School in Brighton in 2020.<\/p>\n
