Birmingham Civic Society are celebrating \u2018The City Beautiful\u2019 – their centenary year\u00a0and what better way to\u00a0celebrate with them and the successes of the civic movement over the last 100 years than to bring together civic societies from across the country to our second city for this year’s conference.<\/p>\n

On the first day we have a number of national keynote speakers delivering their thoughts and concerns on how we balance conservation and regeneration in our urban environments [including the Chair of the IHBC, James Caird]. It’ll be your chance to hear, discuss and share with them lessons that you have from your area and give you a chance to influence the national debate on \u2018How do we balance conservation and regeneration?\u2019<\/p>\n

On the second day, we will have hold our AGM\u00a0followed by Sarah Mcleod, Chief Executive of Wentworth House,\u00a0discussing how communities through the building preservation trust model have a central role to play in managing the nation’s historic\u00a0buildings.There will then be a number of workshops, tours and walks for you to attend – please see below for more details.<\/p>\n
