\"publication<\/a>As part of the suite of responses to its Member Survey the IHBC has launched new \u2018Branch Operations & Activities\u2019 and \u2018Branch Guidance on Social Media\u2019, helping maintain standards in key volunteer-led operations.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018We\u2019ve been working on these programmes since 2017 as the goalposts have been changing so much – from GDPR to technology,\u00a0 new members and volunteers and capacity arising from our IHBC+ programme.<\/p>\n

\u2018However the positive feedback from our 2017-18 survey spurred on both the finalising of guidance \u2013 to help underpin Branch services as highlighted in our survey feedback\u2013 and the progress on our governance, also currently under way.\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

IHBC Operations Director Fiona Newton said: \u2018The guidance will help IHBC Branches and their volunteers ensure that their operations and activities remain consistent with the professional standards of our institute and its membership\u2019.<\/p>\n

IHBC Branch & Events Support Officer Carla Pianese added: \u2018This suite of guidance is designed to respond to recent survey responses that highlighted the need for greater consistency and better Branch recognition and promotion\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018We\u2019re also planning a Branch promotional document, so of course the feedback will help us shape that even more to our volunteers\u2019 needs and members\u2019 aspirations\u2019.<\/p>\n

The \u2018IHBC Branch Operations & Activities\u2019 is a short 8-pages document which includes five sections:<\/p>\n

  1. Background, Branch resources and links<\/li>\n
  2. Branch roles: Maintaining standards across the IHBC<\/li>\n
  3. General principles: Event management and Branch Business Plans<\/li>\n
  4. National oversight and standards<\/li>\n
  5. Communications and branding<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The IHBC has produced the \u2018Branch Guidance on Social Media\u2019 to support IHBC Branches in creating and managing a social media account which adheres to the IHBC\u2019s principles and code of ethics. It\u2019s a short 7-page document which includes three sections and five simple steps to create and manage your social media account, with tips and advice along the way! NB: this is a working draft and we welcome feedback from the Branches.<\/em><\/p>\n
