{"id":20060,"date":"2018-09-05T17:33:54","date_gmt":"2018-09-05T16:33:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=20060"},"modified":"2018-09-05T17:33:54","modified_gmt":"2018-09-05T16:33:54","slug":"wg-eu-building-for-the-future-fund-invests-1-5m-in-port-talbot-listed-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=20060","title":{"rendered":"WG &#038; EU \u2018Building for the Future Fund\u2019 invests \u00a31.5M in Port Talbot listed building"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/wales_online_PortTalbot_050918.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-20061\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/wales_online_PortTalbot_050918.png\" alt=\"website\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" \/><\/a>A listed building in Port Talbot has received over \u00a31.5 million of funding from the Welsh Government (WG) and partners \u2013 around \u00a3500,000 from the Government and \u00a31m from the EU funds \u2013 to form business spaces in the former magistrates court.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Welsh Government writes:<\/p>\n<p>More than \u00a31.5m of Welsh Government and EU funding will be used to transform the former Magistrates Court in Port Talbot to support new businesses, create jobs and attract investment to the area.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Evans, Minister for Housing and Regeneration, announced the funding to create high-spec office space in the listed building, through the Welsh Government\u2019s \u00a3110m Building for the Future Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Evans said:\u00a0 \u2018Our investment, together with the support from Neath Port Talbot local authority will transform the former Magistrate\u2019s Court to create the Terminus. The building will provide modern, flexible office accommodation to attract further economic investment.\u00a0 The development will also provide training and employment opportunities to disadvantaged groups by linking with employability projects such as Workways+ and Communities for Work, which are also being backed by EU and Welsh Government funding.\u00a0 This part of Port Talbot is benefiting from significant redevelopment and regeneration, with improved transport links thanks to the new integrated transport hub and the development of Harbourside, part of the Port Talbot Enterprise Zone.\u00a0\u00a0 There is a real demand for good quality office space to help local businesses grow and develop and I believe this investment will be a springboard for business success from the town.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the Terminus development includes around \u00a3500,000 from the Welsh Government and \u00a31m of EU funds.<\/p>\n<p>Building for the Future is regenerating town centres and surrounding areas in Wales by refurbishing or redeveloping derelict or under-used land and buildings and bringing them back to life.<\/p>\n<p>The multi-million pound Fund, supported by \u00a338m of EU funding and \u00a316m from the Welsh Government is supporting schemes to drive business growth, create employment and increase footfall in town centres.
