{"id":20051,"date":"2018-09-05T17:10:10","date_gmt":"2018-09-05T16:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=20051"},"modified":"2018-09-05T17:10:10","modified_gmt":"2018-09-05T16:10:10","slug":"1m-funding-opportunity-for-museums-on-history-makers-people-who-shaped-our-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=20051","title":{"rendered":"\u00a31M funding opportunity for museums \u2013 On \u2018History Makers &#8211; People who shaped our world\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/AIM_website_050918.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-20052\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/AIM_website_050918.png\" alt=\"website\" width=\"300\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a>A \u00a31 million programme has been set up by The Association of Independent Museums (AiM)\u00a0 and Biffa Award \u2013 which gives grants to community projects near landfill sites &#8211; to help museums tell the story of people who shaped the world around them.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Association of Independent Museums (AiM) writes:<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a31 million, AIM Biffa Award \u2018History Makers \u2013 People who shaped our world\u2019 programme, funds museums to create new exhibitions that will inspire the public through the lives and achievements of extraordinary, historical figures who have made a significant impact on the industrial, scientific, commercial or social history of the UK, shaping the world we live in today.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is a partnership between Biffa Award and AIM and it will run over three years, awarding grants to AIM member museums of up to \u00a390K.\u00a0 It builds on the very successful collaboration between AIM and Biffa Award from 2012-2014, which saw \u00a31.5m invested in National Heritage Landmark Projects, saving some of the UK\u2019s most important industrial heritage.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018History Makers\u2019 will enable the creation of new museum displays which will connect the public with the personal stories and achievements of both famous, and less-well known, historic figures. Through their lives, a new generation will be inspired by the qualities behind their successes, such as ingenuity, bravery, persistence, endeavour, imagination and insight.
