href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=18289\">https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=18289<\/a>] and its resoundingly positive results \u2013 such as 92% of members satisfied or very satisfied with services, and 94% likely or very likely to recommend IHBC membership \u2013 in April IHBC trustees received a report that included itemised consideration of membership concerns, as reported in the extract below.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>IHBC Chair James Caird said: \u2018It is great to see such positive feedback overall from members of all categories, but we do also recognise the challenges faced.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Critical to addressing those challenges is the informed analysis of &#8211; and response to &#8211; concerns raised by members across the survey.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The extract below, taken from the April report to trustees from the IHBC\u2019s National Office, shows just how seriously we take our members\u2019 concerns.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018With these thoughts at the front of our collective mind, we look forward to the next stage of our evolution that, in line with our corporate planning, will focus on governance and building the best from our experiences with \u2018IHBC+\u2019.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly added: \u2018The extract to trustees included below summarises the main issues raised by respondents, at least as we see them.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018They are included here as part of our formal feedback to respondents and to our membership as whole\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Of course, these are early days, and a forthcoming NewsBlog from the report on the survey will consider specific points raised by respondents, item by item.\u00a0 This way we can continue to move our services and support forward, learning all the lessons we can directly from our members.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In April 2018, the IHBC\u2019s National Office reported to IHBC trustees and company directors as follows:<\/p>\n<p>The following five points \u2013 A-E &#8211; have been identified as the headline issues raised by respondents to the membership survey.\u00a0\u00a0 NB: Responses from the National Office are indented and in italics, with later updates in parentheses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Members asked the IHBC to:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>A.\u00a0 \u2018Improve consistency across promotion and regulation of standards\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We responded:<\/p>\n<p>a.\u00a0\u00a0 We have a new overarching practice \u2018Standard\u2019 to frame current and future standards, our \u2018Conservation Professional Practice Principles\u2019 at <a href=\"https:\/\/app.box.com\/s\/1dtbjdrdtmstze684janojrpm7vlmeix\">https:\/\/app.box.com\/s\/1dtbjdrdtmstze684janojrpm7vlmeix<\/a>, which has been widely circulated [https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=16631] as well as now offering a unique suite of support for the British Standard, BS 7913 [http:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/bs\/]<\/p>\n<p>b.\u00a0\u00a0 We now offer a suite of practice guidance &#8211; IHBC\u2019s Toolbox [<a href=\"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/\">https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/<\/a>] &#8211; notably our \u2018Research Notes\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/research_notes\/index.html\">https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/research_notes\/index.html<\/a> and \u2018Guidance Notes\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/guidance_notes\/index.html\">https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/guidance_notes\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>c.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Substantial disciplinary processes have been operational since 2007 [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/join\/page33\/index.html\">https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/join\/page33\/index.html<\/a>], and in place formally with fully accessible on-line guidance since 2010, with 12 of 14 cases successfully closed.\u00a0 Though no memberships have been terminated, to date at last 3 have resigned membership or accreditation rather than face disciplinary processes: <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/resources\/IHBC-AGM_2010.pdf\">https:\/\/ihbc.org.uk\/resources\/IHBC-AGM_2010.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>d.\u00a0\u00a0 CPD assessment has been operating selectively since 2008 and formally since 2011: <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=24\">https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=24<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Members asked the IHBC to:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>B.\u00a0 \u2018Enhance support for IHBC accreditation\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We responded:<\/p>\n<p>a.\u00a0\u00a0 A structured application process &#8211; free both to submit and to change category \u2013 is supported by substantial pre-registration feedback with online support and guidance: <a href=\"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/3new\/join\/applicant_guidance\/index.html\">https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/3new\/join\/applicant_guidance\/index.html\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>b.\u00a0\u00a0 Associate membership, introduced from 2014, now serves as structured \u2018stepping stone\u2019 to Full Membership: <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=10536\">https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=10536<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/join\/catagories\/index.html\">https:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/join\/catagories\/index.html<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=8804\">https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=8804<\/a><\/p>\n<p>c.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Proposals to address the national heritage agencies \u2018Home Countries Protocol\u2019 [<a href=\"https:\/\/cotac.global\/edinburghgroup\/\">https:\/\/cotac.global\/edinburghgroup\/<\/a>] on requirements for re-accreditation are in place with submission pending: See background at<\/p>\n<p>d.\u00a0\u00a0 A review of our Membership Application Form is entering a second stage<\/p>\n<p>e.\u00a0\u00a0 Free Membership Assessment Training Event (MATE) sessions around UK are available, both via Branches, HESPR members and other sector players including national heritage agencies, for example <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=17521\">https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=17521<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Members asked the IHBC to:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>C.\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018Refine and modernise governance and corporate planning, including balancing sector interests (e.g. private and public) and membership inclusion\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We responded:<\/p>\n<p>a.\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018IHBC+\u2019 [<a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=9169\">https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=9169<\/a>] has allowed us to lead engagement with new career entrants and volunteers, including though Council+ to help shape UK strategies with more diverse member input, e.g. <a
