{"id":1988,"date":"2010-11-05T16:54:47","date_gmt":"2010-11-05T16:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=1988"},"modified":"2010-11-05T16:54:47","modified_gmt":"2010-11-05T16:54:47","slug":"marsh-award-traditional-building-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=1988","title":{"rendered":"Marsh Award: Traditional Building Skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Nominations are currently being sought for two awards of \u00a31,000 each, in this the fifth year of this award scheme, generously sponsored by the Marsh Christian Trust (www.marshchristiantrust.org).<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nPrevious winners of this award are the late Professor John Ashurst (2006); Ray Stevens, The National Trust (2007); Bob Turner, Fisher Decoration Limited (2008); Rebecca Little and Alison Davie (2009). \u00a0The winners in the category for a built heritage sector trainer were George Terry, Highbury College, Portsmouth (2008) and Kevin Lambert (2009).<\/p>\n<p>For 2010, both categories are again available and we seek submissions for:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\">One award celebrating the achievements of an individual craftsperson who demonstrates the highest possible practical skills and standards in any traditional building craft skill occupation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\">One award for an individual trainer, who has demonstrated outstanding work within the built heritage sector in passing on knowledge and understanding to help develop other peoples\u2019 traditional building craft skills.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Criteria for the Award<br \/>\n<\/span>Eligibility: The two awards are open to craftspeople and trainers working in any of the four UK home countries.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Craftsperson<br \/>\n<\/span>Submission of a CV and photographic evidence of 3-4 pieces of work over the past 2-3 years on specific heritage or conservation related projects that are highly skilled, challenging, unique or acknowledged as being above the normal standard of a contract. \u00a0A letter containing a brief statement of support from an employer, client, architect, or building surveyor citing the person\u2019s abilities is also required.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Trainer<br \/>\n<\/span>Submission of evidence of consistently high quality delivery of training in the built heritage skills or conservation field which has assisted in developing the skills and abilities of craftspeople.
