{"id":19811,"date":"2018-08-07T18:27:25","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T17:27:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=19811"},"modified":"2018-10-03T17:22:45","modified_gmt":"2018-10-03T16:22:45","slug":"ihbcs-free-mate-sessions-supporting-accreditation-across-hespr-members-staff-woodhall-conservation-purcell-and-rsk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=19811","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s free \u2018MATE\u2019 sessions &#8211; Supporting accreditation across HESPR members\u2019 staff: Woodhall Conservation, Purcell and RSK"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/HESPR_Woodhall_Purcell_RK_MATES_Aug_2018.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-19812\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/HESPR_Woodhall_Purcell_RK_MATES_Aug_2018.png\" alt=\"logos\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a>Kate Kendall, IHBC\u2019s Learning Education, Training and Standards (LETS) Officer &#8211; and our lead on training for IHBC accreditation \u2013 has undertaken another three, well-received Membership Application Training Event (MATE) sessions &#8211; with members of the IHBC\u2019s HESPR quality assurance scheme for commercial and corporate conservation practices: Woodhall Conservation, Purcell and RSK \u2013 to help staff understand the accreditation process and develop applications.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Se\u00e1n\u00a0O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018The IHBC\u2019s MATE sessions offer talks and exercises to break down the application process, explore the IHBC\u2019s Areas of Competence and our Conservation Cycle model, while also answering specific queries and concerns on cases and training priorities.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018These events ensure that applicants from any discipline or sector can get a common grounding in how the IHBC assesses interdisciplinary conservation standards in line with established national and international conservation standards, notably ICOMOS.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Of course, as these events are free training and CPD, in line with our charitable obligations we give priority to IHBC members, Branches, networks and supporters, including commercial practices signed up to our HESPR quality assurance scheme.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So MATE sessions are yet another benefit when you sign up to the IHBC\u2019s built and historic environment conservation support and standards.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Kate Kendall said: \u2018If you are thinking about making your Full or Associate membership application to us, but you are not sure where to start, why not look to our popular and free MATE sessions, hosted by arrangement with our Branches, groups and businesses.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The sessions help you understand the application and assessment processes and guide you on skills development \u2013 including CPD priorities \u2013 and on approach the all-important case studies that demonstrate your conservation competence.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Feedback form the recent sessions include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marc Pearson from Woodhall Conservation said: \u2018Kate provided an excellent overview of the IHBC application process in a succinct manner.\u00a0 The session alleviated my concerns regarding the content of my membership application and as a result I intend to finalise the submission in the coming weeks.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Tracey Gullick of Purcell said: \u2018I found yesterday\u2019s session most helpful.\u00a0 The application, initially, seems overwhelming but your presentation and breakdown of the process, with a summary of how to approach each section, made an application seem achievable.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Following the latest session with RSK,\u00a0Andy Towle, Archaeology and Built Heritage Team Leader said: \u2018The IHBC Membership Seminar was excellent. Kate was very patient with our many questions, and reassuring that our previous professional experience in the heritage sector might be used to demonstrate the competencies required by the application.
