{"id":19666,"date":"2018-07-24T16:46:03","date_gmt":"2018-07-24T15:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=19666"},"modified":"2018-07-24T16:46:03","modified_gmt":"2018-07-24T15:46:03","slug":"updates-on-government-major-projects-portfolio-completes-26-major-projects-that-deliver-policy-priorities-and-improve-public-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=19666","title":{"rendered":"Updates on \u2018Government Major Projects Portfolio\u2019: Completes 26 major projects that \u2018deliver policy priorities and improve public services\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/UK_Gov_MajorProjects2017_18_cover.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-19667\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/UK_Gov_MajorProjects2017_18_cover-208x300.png\" alt=\"publication cover\" width=\"208\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) has published its sixth annual report on the Government Major Projects Portfolio (GMPP), with many having significant impacts on the historic environment.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Projects include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1617 New Property Model Programme: Creation of the Government Property Agency, a new Executive Agency of the Cabinet Office<\/li>\n<li>Crossrail Programme: A new high-frequency rail service which will increase rail-based capacity in London by up to 10% and cut journey times across London and the South E<\/li>\n<li>Priority School Building Programme 2: To rebuild or refurbish individual school buildings (or blocks) in the worst condition across 277 schools in England<\/li>\n<li>Francis Crick Institute: the biggest biomedical research facility under a single roof in Europe<\/li>\n<li>Government\u2019s role in setting up the Thames Tideway Tunnel: a major new sewer to protect the River Thames and create 4,000 new jobs<\/li>\n<li>Hinkley Point C enabling project: securing private investment into a new nuclear plant so construction can begin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Government writes:<\/p>\n<p>The IPA, which supports the delivery of a range of large government projects, has published its latest annual report on the government\u2019s most important major projects, reporting that 26 have been successfully completed this year.<\/p>\n<p>Projects delivered range from transformation and ICT programmes which modernise the civil service and make public services more efficient, to infrastructure and construction projects and military capability programmes, which grow our economy, improve productivity and defend the nation\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The IPA\u2019s Annual Report provides a snapshot of how all GMPP projects were progressing as of September 2017.\u00a0 The GMPP is a continually evolving portfolio of the government\u2019s most complex and high risk projects and it regularly changes to reflect government policy priorities. The current portfolio includes 133 major projects with a whole life cost of \u00a3423 billion, spread across 16 government departments.<\/p>\n<p>Over half of this year\u2019s 26 completed projects received a Green or Amber Green Delivery Confidence Assessment (DCA) &#8211; the IPA\u2019s rating of a project\u2019s chance of success at a specific point in time.
