{"id":1935,"date":"2010-10-28T10:59:52","date_gmt":"2010-10-28T10:59:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=1935"},"modified":"2010-10-28T10:59:52","modified_gmt":"2010-10-28T10:59:52","slug":"liverpool%e2%80%99s-pier-head-wins-public-space-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=1935","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool\u2019s Pier Head wins public space award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Pier Head, a 2.5 hectare park on Liverpool\u2019s historic docks, seamlessly integrates with the new Leeds and Liverpool canal link, the first major urban canal extension in a generation, and the result is an elegant public space and an exciting new waterfront for the city.<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe gentle changes in level flow from the canal basins in front of the Three Graces out to a series of seat walls and flights of steps near the water. The space works both as a venue for major events and a place for quiet contemplation. CABE\u2019s director of public space, Sarah Gaventa, was one of the judges.
