\"Ian<\/a>The IHBC is delighted to announce a new speaker to the 2018 School\u2019s already distinguished list for the Day School on 22 June in Belfast, as Ian Doyle, Head of Conservation with Ireland\u2019s Heritage Council – the country\u2019s statutory agency for Ireland\u2019s heritage policy \u2013 will engage delegates on \u2018Transforming heritage care in Ireland: The Heritage Council and local authorities in the 21st century<\/em>‘.<\/h3>\n

IHBC Northern Ireland Branch Chair Andrew McClelland, and Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly, said \u2018We are especially delighted that Ian can add his unique perspective from Ireland\u2019s evolving conservation systems to our overarching theme of transformational approaches to heritage caring and sharing.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018His special focus and take on the work of local authorities in Ireland is a hugely relevant addition to the local, national and international perspectives that 2018 School delegates, sponsors, speakers can take away from one or all of these very special days.\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018And of course as the main theme for the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (EYCH 2018) in Ireland is ‘Make a Connection<\/a>‘\u00a0– by joining the IHBC\u2019s School programme, Ireland\u2019s Heritage Council is sharing its own strong connection to the IHBC School\u2019s EYCH 2018-supported theme of \u2018Shared heritage\u2019.<\/p>\n

The IHBC writes:<\/p>\n

Ian Doyle is Head of Conservation with the Heritage Council, a statutory agency set up to propose policy for Ireland\u2019s heritage. He works on issues such as archaeological legislation, EU projects, research strategies, strategic planning, landscapes and historic towns. In 2015 he founded the Heritage Council\u2019s Adopt a Monument scheme as a key part of the development of community archaeology in Ireland. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork and the Irish Management Institute.<\/p>\n
