Every year for four days in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history. It\u2019s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences \u2013 and it\u2019s all FREE. Heritage Open Days 2018 will be 6-9 &amp; 13-16 September.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Heritage Open Day writes (15\/11\/2017):<\/p>\n<p>Next year, for the first time in the history of Heritage Open Days, the festival will take place across two weekends in September \u2013 the 6-9th and the 13-16th.\u00a0 Each year, the number of events hosted across the country increases, and we felt it was time to give our organisers additional flexibility in terms of dates and capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that the additional dates don\u2019t mean any extra work.\u00a0 Organisers can continue to hold an event on just one morning, afternoon or day, and the registration process will remain unchanged.\u00a0 But we hope the additional dates will encourage new sites to take part, and that some existing organisers will welcome the chance to give people a wider choice of when to visit.\u00a0 The double weekend will enable exhibitions and displays to remain open for a longer period, although organisers can choose to open on any combination of days, across one or both weekends.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re thrilled that Heritage Open Days has grown to the degree that it can sustain two weekends of events, and we\u2019re looking forward to 2018 being our most successful year ever.\u00a0 We very much hope you\u2019ll be part of it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritageopendays.org.uk\/news-desk\/news\/a-double-date-in-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more&#8230;.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more background see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritageopendays.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heritageopendays.org.uk<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?s=Heritage+Open+Days\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IHBC NewsBlogs<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Heritage Open Days is England&#8217;s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,500 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers.
