{"id":18287,"date":"2018-03-02T18:43:46","date_gmt":"2018-03-02T18:43:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=18287"},"modified":"2018-03-02T18:43:46","modified_gmt":"2018-03-02T18:43:46","slug":"ihbc-responds-to-wales-planning-consultation-listed-building-consent-should-not-be-unified-with-planning-permission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=18287","title":{"rendered":"IHBC responds to Wales Planning consultation: Listed Building Consent should not be unified with planning permission"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IHBC_Consultations.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-18084\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IHBC_Consultations.png\" alt=\"IHBC consultations webpage\" width=\"300\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a>The IHBC has submitted its response on the consultation from the Law Commission Consultation \u2018Planning Law in Wales\u2019, highlighting, among other points, potential threats to heritage resources and planning processes if Listed Building Consent processes are subsumed into planning, and the lack of evidence to the contrary.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018It is with good reason that the IHBC has maintained its position that Listed Building Consent is not suitable for unification with planning permission.\u00a0 The two approvals exist for quite different reasons.\u00a0 Each is considered on a different basis, and even if there are, necessarily, overlaps in practice, that does not mean\u00a0either (or both) are\u00a0redundant.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Strengths evident in the current situation include the operational efficiency that the wider considerations in planning applications need not apply to the specialist consideration of Listed Building Consent processes, a simple logic that brings benefits both ways.
