{"id":18083,"date":"2018-02-09T17:32:42","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T17:32:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=18083"},"modified":"2018-02-09T17:32:42","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T17:32:42","slug":"ihbc-scotland-branch-responds-to-planning-scotland-bill-memorandum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=18083","title":{"rendered":"IHBC Scotland Branch responds to Planning (Scotland) Bill\u2026 Memorandum"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IHBC_Consultations.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-18084\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/IHBC_Consultations.png\" alt=\"IHBC consultations webpage\" width=\"300\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a>The IHBC\u2019s Scotland Branch has offered \u2018Written evidence to the Scottish Parliament&#8217;s Finance and Constitution Committee on the Planning (Scotland) Bill Financial Memorandum\u2019, highlighting the need for \u2018greater resources and skills\u2026 [for] Planning Authorities\u2019; more effective engagement with communities, \u2018starting right at the survey stage of Local Development Plans\u2019, and highlighting \u2018low public confidence in the Scottish Planning System\u2019 despite its \u2018key role in the design and delivery of a sustainable Scotland\u2019.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>IHBC Scotland\u2019s Consultations Panel Secretary Charles Strang said: \u2018Two years of consultation on proposed changes to the Scottish Planning System have thus far been a triumph of hope over experience, underlined by the resultant Bill provisions which initially are to be considered by the Parliament\u2019s local government and finance committees.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Institute\u2019s Scotland Branch waits to see if these MSPs will take up none, some, or all of our points of evidence to them. Surely sustainable development, properly resourced and skilled planning authorities, and effective enforcement are widely-held, reasonable expectations of any amended Scottish planning system.
