{"id":17995,"date":"2018-02-03T16:06:39","date_gmt":"2018-02-03T16:06:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=17995"},"modified":"2018-02-02T18:18:24","modified_gmt":"2018-02-02T18:18:24","slug":"have-your-say-on-the-future-priorities-of-the-heritage-lottery-fund-closes-22-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=17995","title":{"rendered":"Have your say on the future priorities of the Heritage Lottery Fund: Closes 22 March"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ComRes_HLF_NL_logos.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-17996\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/ComRes_HLF_NL_logos.png\" alt=\"Com Res HLF and NL logos\" width=\"300\" height=\"72\" \/><\/a>The HLF consultation on direction and funding priorities is now open, offering a crucial opportunity opens for all those who care about the UK\u2019s extraordinary heritage to give their views on the Heritage Lottery Fund\u2019s plans for the future, including especially new approaches to place-based funding to encourage communities to put heritage at the heart of their economic and social development, and ensuring heritage organisations across the UK can become more enterprising and financially sustainable, and closes on 22 March.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The HLF writes:<\/p>\n<p>The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) awards grants to\u00a0projects that range from restoring natural landscapes to rescuing neglected buildings; from recording diverse community histories to providing life-changing\u00a0training.\u00a0HLF now wants to know what people think its role, vision and priorities should be as the UK\u2019s biggest funder of heritage during its next strategic funding framework \u2013 the period from 2019\u20132024.<\/p>\n<p>Comments are being invited on a proposed new approach including targeted funding campaigns, repayable loans and public involvement in decision-making, all of which could have a role over the next five years in ensuring the most effective use of National Lottery money to support the UK\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Ros Kerslake, said: \u2018Since 1994, HLF has distributed \u00a37.8bn to over 40,000 heritage projects \u2013 an unparalleled legacy that has transformed neighbourhoods, communities, visitor attractions and people\u2019s lives across the length and breadth of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In doing so we have also led change and innovation across the UK heritage sector through our inclusive and progressive approach to heritage and people. We have championed a democratic view of heritage as what we value from the past and want to hand on to the future, and nurtured community-driven approaches to local heritage and identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We now hold a unique position as the largest dedicated funder of the UK\u2019s heritage and, at a time of increased competition and reduced budgets, want to be sure we are using every pound of National Lottery players\u2019 money in the best way possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We see our future role as inspiring, leading and resourcing our heritage to create positive and lasting change for people and communities, now and in the future.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>HLF still expects to fund a full range of heritage including landscapes, places of worship, parks, townscapes, buildings at risk and heritage skills.
