{"id":1796,"date":"2010-09-18T08:25:00","date_gmt":"2010-09-18T08:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=1796"},"modified":"2010-09-18T08:25:00","modified_gmt":"2010-09-18T08:25:00","slug":"sslg-to-be-dissolved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=1796","title":{"rendered":"SSLG to be dissolved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Following the Annual General Meeting of SSLG on the 2nd September  2010, it is my duty as Chief Executive Officer to regretfully\u00a0anounce  that the Board of Directors have decided to dissolve SSLG as a  charitable company limited by guarantee. The Board has issued a  statement, which is given below.<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Directors\u2019 Statement (2 September 2010):<br \/>\n<\/span>Following detailed discussions with Historic Scotland on the future  levels of funding available for the Scottish Stone Liaison Group from  Scottish Government, the Board of Directors have unanimously agreed to  wind up SSLG as a private charitable company, limited by guarantee.<\/p>\n<p>Historic Scotland has agreed that SSLG will continue as a industry  advisory group to Scottish Ministers and that the work of the  organisation will be carried forward by Historic Scotland, as a key area  of responsibility, facilitated by the transfer of employment of the  SSLG CEO to their Conservation Group.<\/p>\n<p>On-going pressure on public finances, with an economic climate that made  securing sufficient private funding unlikely have coincided with an  opportunity to build capacity within Historic Scotland to take forward  skills and materials issues, thereby enabling the work of SSLG to go  forward without the on-going resource implications of running a small  charitable company.<\/p>\n<p>The Board would like to thank all those that have supported SSLG over  the years and urge them to continue their association through the  proposed advisory group. Exact details of the transfer of staff and  projects have yet to be agreed but the Board expects that the winding-up  process will be complete by the end of March 2011.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230; The Directors and staff of SSLG will be having meetings with  Historic Scotland over the coming period to agree the next steps\u00a0towards  the winding up of SSLG and how areas of\u00a0our work may be taken on  by\u00a0Historic Scotland. These discussions will include the development of  terms of reference for the new advisory SSLG.
