{"id":1792,"date":"2010-09-18T08:21:53","date_gmt":"2010-09-18T08:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=1792"},"modified":"2010-09-18T08:21:53","modified_gmt":"2010-09-18T08:21:53","slug":"new-construction-alliance-mou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=1792","title":{"rendered":"New Construction Alliance: MoU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Construction Alliance, a coming together of four of the  sector&#8217;s major trade organisations who represent the interests of its  members at the Strategic Forum for Construction, have signed a  memorandum of understanding.<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\nThe Alliance includes the Civil Engineering Contractors Association,  Federation of Master Builders, National Federation of Builders and  Scottish Building Federation. Between them, these federations represent  membership of over 13,500 companies and organisations.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009-10, UK construction output was valued at \u00a3109bn, accounting for  over eight per cent of GDP. The output of the UK&#8217;s civil engineering  sector was \u00a320bn and the output of the building sector was \u00a389bn.  Between them, the UK civil engineering and building contractors directly  employ 1.1 million people and overall, the construction industry  sustains work for up to three million people either directly employed in  construction firms or in the supply chain. CECA, the NFB, the FMB and  SBF are the principal representative federations for their respective  sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Wakeford, the Construction Alliance&#8217;s chief spokesperson, said:  &#8220;The Construction Alliance will represent the interests of its members  at the Strategic Forum for Construction. The Forum is the only  pan-industry round-table for discussing strategic issues which has the  authority and structure to inform government and promote construction  best practice from procurement, energy efficiency and training, to  professional standards, health and safety and government policy.
