\"BBC<\/a>The BBC has produced an extensive report on how new homes bought through the Help to Buy scheme are becoming uninhabitable soon after purchase.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The BBC writes:<\/p>\n

Gas leaks, damp, holes in the floor and cracks in the walls – for some, their new homes have become \u2018uninhabitable\u2019 less than a year after moving in.<\/p>\n

\u2018Slugs, worms, beetles, spiders – they have their own personal entrance and exit route into our house,\u2019 Karen Stacey-Pope tells the\u00a0BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme.<\/p>\n

\u2018There’s a gap underneath the [patio] door and the doorframe,\u2019 she says, explaining how the bugs get in. \u2018It’s fairly deep, about 2ft [60cm] down.\u2019<\/p>\n

Karen is angry, upset and drained of energy.<\/p>\n

She has a long-term disability – a form of severe arthritis – and was diagnosed with breast cancer this year.<\/p>\n

She says the fight to have her home’s numerous issues resolved has become so stressful it has made her even more ill.<\/p>\n

The wrong porch was built on, airbricks meant to stop the house from getting damp and rotten were buried underground, and her driveway is sinking.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
