{"id":1738,"date":"2010-09-07T10:01:06","date_gmt":"2010-09-07T10:01:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=1738"},"modified":"2010-09-07T10:01:06","modified_gmt":"2010-09-07T10:01:06","slug":"greenwich-market-plan-hearing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=1738","title":{"rendered":"Greenwich Market plan hearing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The London Borough of Greenwich has decided to oppose revised  plans to redevelop Greenwich\u2019s historic market as members remain  concerned over the impact that the new scheme would have on the skyline,  with its structures visible from surrounding streets and approaches,  and from Observatory Hill.<\/p>\n<p><\/span>It\u2019s proposed a scheme with new shops, offices and a 104-bedroom  hotel alongside a redeveloped market. \u00a0The market has occupied its  present site since the early 1800s and has been the subject of a  planning application by site owners Greenwich Hospital Estates.<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n<\/span>The original scheme was unanimously rejected by the London planning  authority in August 2009, partly on the grounds that its design and  proposed materials were out of keeping with the character of the West  Greenwich Conservation Area and the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage  Site.<\/p>\n<p>The developer has appealed and has submitted modifications to the scheme.
