However, the MATE sessions are designed to help you better understand the process and ease you along the way to IHBC membership and formal, professional accreditation with us.\u00a0 We\u2019re here to support your application, and want you to succeed.&#8217;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After a recent MATE event at CgMs, IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018In these MATE sessions we offer talks and exercises to break down the application process, explore the IHBC\u2019s Areas of Competence and our Conservation Cycle model, while also answering specific queries and concerns on cases and training priorities.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This ensures that applicants from any discipline or sector can get a common grounding in how the IHBC assesses interdisciplinary conservation standards in line with established national and international conservation standards and models \u2013 notably from ICOMOS and the World Bank.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Of course, as these events are free training and CPD, in line with our charitable obligations we have to give priority to IHBC members, networks and supporters, including commercial practices signed up to our HESPR quality assurance scheme.\u00a0 So MATE sessions are yet another benefit when you sign up to built and historic environment conservation support and standards with the IHBC.\u2019<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kate writes:<\/p>\n<p>Are you thinking about making your full membership application to IHBC? Not sure where to start? Come along to a local Branch or business MATE session: IHBC\u2019s \u2018Membership Application Training Event\u2019!<\/p>\n<p>The increasingly popular MATE sessions are being hosted in Branches, groups and businesses over the coming months.\u00a0 The sessions help you understand the application and assessment processes and guide you on skills development \u2013 including CPD priorities &#8211; and on approach the all-important case studies that demonstrate your conservation competence.<\/p>\n<p>These popular sessions offer the opportunity to talk with IHBC staff, colleagues and Full members &#8211; local and national &#8211; and to seek their advice.<\/p>\n<p>Following on from two sessions in the London Branch this summer feedback has been positive and we want to build on this working with the other Branches and conservation interests across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Feedback\u00a0 includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>&#8216;Really well organised. Advice and experience of Kate and competency group leaders second to none and extremely useful! Really appreciate all of the time they gave for the training session.&#8217;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>&#8216;It was valuable to realise how varied the interests were and the perception of obstacles in submitting.
