{"id":17035,"date":"2017-10-20T18:16:57","date_gmt":"2017-10-20T17:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=17035"},"modified":"2017-10-20T18:16:57","modified_gmt":"2017-10-20T17:16:57","slug":"ihbc-extends-private-sector-support-for-applicants-free-ihbc-cpd-mates-update-for-a-cgms-audience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=17035","title":{"rendered":"IHBC extends private sector support for applicants: Free IHBC CPD \u2018MATE\u2019s update, for a CgMS audience"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Kate_Kendall.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-17036\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Kate_Kendall.png\" alt=\"Kate Kendall\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>The IHBC\u2019s popular and free MATE seminars \u2013 our Membership Application Training Events, which support CPD-linked applications for IHBC accreditation \u2013 have taken a huge leap forward as planning consultancy CgMS hosted the first of a new IHBC seminar series that for private sector companies &#8211; including IHBC\u2019s HESPR members \u2013 while CgMs welcomed the pilot as <em>\u2018\u2026 <\/em>an excellent, bespoke seminar that wholly clarified the process of application for CgMS consultants.\u2019<\/h3>\n<h5><em>Kate Kendall &#8211;\u00a0IHBC\u2019s LETS Officer<\/em><!--more--><\/h5>\n<p>IHBC Director Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018In these MATE seminars we offer talks and exercises to break down the application process, explore the IHBC\u2019s Areas of Competence and our Conservation Cycle model, while answering any queries.\u00a0 This ensures that applicants from any discipline or sector can get a common grounding in how the IHBC assesses interdisciplinary conservation standards in line with established international conservation standards and models.\u2019<u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Smith, Director of Built Heritage at CgMS Limited (part of the RPS Group), said: \u2018This was an excellent, bespoke seminar that wholly clarified the process of application for CgMS consultants.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Colleagues with diverse backgrounds and current work specialisms have not only grown the confidence and focus to make their applications, but have been motivated to take up IHBC membership through a full realisation of the benefits.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The IHBC needs to brace itself for a rush of membership applications, for both associate and full levels, from CgMs colleagues.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Kate Kendall, IHBC\u2019s LETS Officer \u2013 supporting Learning, Education, Training and Standards in the institute \u2013 said: \u2018Recently, with IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly, we led a membership\u00a0seminar as part of an organisation-wide CPD training opportunity for CgMs staff.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Our private-sector sessions are modelled on Branch-led training events, but tailored to respond to the primary experience of the delegates.\u00a0 Designed to introduce the thinking and process to anyone seeking IHBC accreditation, they consist of an introductory talk and mentored exercises.\u00a0 These help attendees feel more comfortable with a process that is for many \u2013 as we know from our substantial experience here \u2013 a challenging new CPD-experience in its own right.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The session was developed and tailored to suit the time available considering the\u00a0background of the member of the team. Feedback has been positive and it is hoped that applications will be forthcoming.
