{"id":17029,"date":"2017-10-20T18:05:16","date_gmt":"2017-10-20T17:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=17029"},"modified":"2017-10-20T18:05:16","modified_gmt":"2017-10-20T17:05:16","slug":"sct-launches-ihbc-supported-annual-conference-50-years-of-conservation-areas-and-trusts-27-november-glasgow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=17029","title":{"rendered":"SCT launches IHBC-supported Annual Conference \u2013 50 years of Conservation Areas and Trusts: 27 November, Glasgow"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SCT_conference.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-17030\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/SCT_conference-225x300.png\" alt=\"SCT conference image\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The Scottish Civic Trust (SCT) has launched its next Annual Conference, hosted in partnership with the IHBC, celebrating both 50 years of conservation areas and the 50th anniversary of the Trust, with reduced rates offered to IHBC members attending in Glasgow on 27 November.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018We&#8217;re delighted to be able to help in one of the key moments for Scotland\u2019s civic conservation interests, the SCT\u2019s Annual Conference, especially as this year is such an important anniversary for Scotland\u2019s conservation and civic history.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>John Pelan, Director of Scottish Civic Trust, said, \u2018The next Scottish Civic Trust Annual Conference, in partnership with IHBC, will tackle serious issues around the theme of conservation areas in recognition of both the 50th anniversary of the Trust and the\u00a01967 Civic Amenities Act.\u00a0 This event will be of great interest to all members of IHBC who are eligible for the special discounted rate.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Gaby Laing, Heritage Officer at Scottish Civic Trust, said: \u2018We\u2019re so excited to be hosting the conference in our 50<sup>th<\/sup>anniversary year in the wonderful Trades Hall of Glasgow, a venue certainly befitting of the theme in the heart of Glasgow Central conservation area.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We\u2019ve got a fantastic array of speakers in the morning session, tackling everything from our emotional connection to places, to hidden assets and Conservation Area Regeneration Schemes.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In the afternoon we\u2019re going to get up and about with a tour around Glasgow\u2019s Merchant City, before exploring some of the morning\u2019s themes in more detail through interactive workshops.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The SCT writes:<\/p>\n<p>As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations and recognising that the Civic Amenities Act was passed in 1967, the Scottish Civic Trust&#8217;s next annual conference, in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland and The Institute of Historic Building Conservation, will tackle the theme of \u2018Fifty years of conservation areas\u2019 &#8211;
