{"id":16927,"date":"2017-10-10T16:06:37","date_gmt":"2017-10-10T15:06:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=16927"},"modified":"2017-10-09T16:56:16","modified_gmt":"2017-10-09T15:56:16","slug":"hull-city-of-culture-also-named-most-enterprising-place-in-britain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=16927","title":{"rendered":"Hull \u2013 City of Culture \u2013 also named \u2018most enterprising place in Britain\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/LocalGov_website_image_Hull_101017.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16928\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/LocalGov_website_image_Hull_101017.png\" alt=\"Hull image on LocalGovUK website\" width=\"250\" height=\"166\" \/><\/a>Birmingham has had to give up its crown as Hull replaces the west Midlands city as the most enterprising place in Britain.<\/h3>\n<h6><em>image Local Gov UK website<\/em><\/h6>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The City of Hull received an Improving the Business Environment Award in the Enterprising Britain Awards and also given the title of the most enterprising place in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>The awards, which are now in their fourteenth year, celebrate the work of public sector organisations that support and encourage entrepreneurialism across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s programmes to invigorate the economy earned the admiration of judges who noted the Green Port Hull project, a \u00a3310m investment from Siemens and Associated British Ports, and the Hull Youth Support Trust.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of projects such as these, there are now 5,000 more jobs and 6,800 more people in employment compared to 2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Enterprising Britain Awards are a fantastic reminder of what can be achieved when we bring together local knowledge and leadership to provide targeted support to entrepreneurs and the innovative businesses they build,\u2019 said small business minister, Margot James.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I want to congratulate the City of Hull for their enormous success.
