{"id":16766,"date":"2017-09-26T16:01:52","date_gmt":"2017-09-26T15:01:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=16766"},"modified":"2017-09-24T18:20:12","modified_gmt":"2017-09-24T17:20:12","slug":"designationquality-and-more-stats-from-dclg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=16766","title":{"rendered":"Designation\/Quality and more stats from DCLG"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Nat_Stats_Planning_140917.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-16767\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Nat_Stats_Planning_140917-215x300.png\" alt=\"National Planning Stats 2017\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>England\u2019s Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has published live tables for statistics on planning applications at national and local planning authority\u00a0level, including statistics on planning applications in England between April and June 2017 and the first set of performance statistics for the new &#8216;quality&#8217; designation process, as the proportion of decisions lost at appeal as a proxy for the quality of decision-making.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>DCLG writes:<\/p>\n<p>Historical live tables and statistical releases for the annual development control statistics covering 2004-05 to 2008-09 are available from <a href=\"http:\/\/webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/20121108165934\/http:\/www.communities.gov.uk\/planningandbuilding\/planningbuilding\/planningstatistics\/developmentcontrolstatistics\/\">The National Archives<\/a>. This annual release was discontinued during 2009, but most of the information that was provided is now included in the quarterly planning application releases.<\/p>\n<p>Historical live tables for the quarterly planning application statistics covering January 2008 to June 2012 are also available from <a href=\"http:\/\/webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk\/20121108165934\/http:\/www.communities.gov.uk\/planningandbuilding\/planningbuilding\/planningstatistics\/statisticsplanning\/\">The National Archives<\/a>, including quarterly statistical releases covering January 2008 to December 2009.<\/p>\n<p>Historical live tables from July 2012 are available in the\u00a0historical live tables section at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistical-data-sets\/live-tables-on-planning-application-statistics#historical-live-tables\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/statistical-data-sets\/live-tables-on-planning-application-statistics#historical-live-tables<\/a><\/p>\n<p>DCLG also reports:<\/p>\n<p>The statistics published show that between April to June 2017, district level planning authorities in England:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>received 123,300 applications for planning permission, down\u00a0five per cent on the corresponding quarter of 2016;<\/li>\n<li>granted 98,700 decisions, down two per cent from the same\u00a0quarter in 2016; this is equivalent to 88 per cent of decisions, unchanged on the same quarter of 2016;<\/li>\n<li>decided 87 per cent of major applications within 13 weeks\u00a0or the agreed time, up from 84 per cent a year earlier;<\/li>\n<li>granted 12,200 residential applications, unchanged on a year\u00a0earlier: 1,500 for major developments and 10,600 for minors;<\/li>\n<li>granted 2,500 applications for commercial developments,\u00a0down ten per cent on a year earlier; and<\/li>\n<li>received 11,000 applications for prior approval for permitted\u00a0development rights, down eight per cent from the same quarter of 2016.
