He writes: \u2018Urban design analysis often shows that historic areas have superior characteristics in terms of layouts, mixed-use, concentrations of facilities, permeability and other characteristics. Good planning can build on these qualities;<\/li>\n<li>Colin Davis focuses his thinking on \u2018Car Parking in conservation areas;<\/li>\n<li>Sean McEntee in his article \u2018Reconciling conservation and sustainable development\u2019 highlights a development proposal for Norton Folgate in London and writes of the need \u2018to broaden the perception of built heritage from a specialism concerned with architectural and historic interest to a more coordinated mainstream activity representative of social gains and inclusivity\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Stephen Robb in his article \u2018Conservative surgery in Edinburgh\u2019 describes Patrick Geddes \u2018inspired approach to renewing the slums of Edinburgh at the end of the 19th century\u2019.
