But more than 5,000 people have signed a petition opposing a sculpture planned for a Welsh castle, saying it celebrates the \u2018subjugation and oppression\u2019 of the Welsh people.<\/p>\n<p>The sculpture is called the Iron Ring. Announcing it, the Welsh Government said it \u2018symbolises a giant rusted crown\u2019.\u00a0\u2026..<\/p>\n<p>But the petition says: \u2018We the undersigned oppose the building of the Iron Ring outside of Flint Castle as we are well aware of the historical significance of Edward I and his so called Iron Ring as a use to subjugate and oppress our people.
