{"id":1591,"date":"2010-07-30T10:52:59","date_gmt":"2010-07-30T10:52:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=1591"},"modified":"2010-07-30T10:52:59","modified_gmt":"2010-07-30T10:52:59","slug":"%e2%80%98global-local%e2%80%99-heritage-funding-conference-day-1-speakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=1591","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Global &#038; local\u2019 heritage funding conference: Day 1 speakers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speakers have been announced \u00a0for    the first day of the international joint conference on heritage investment,    \u2018Investing in the Past &#8211; Funding Heritage Projects, Global and Local\u2019, to take    place in Glasgow on 18-20 November 2010, with speakers to include:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Loyd Grosmann, cultural heritage ambassador to    government and the media,<br \/>\n&#8211; conservation funding expert Dr Rob Pickard, IHBC, and<br \/>\n&#8211; Ratish Nanda of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, among    other international authorities on heritage projects.<\/p>\n<p>Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly, Director of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation    (IHBC), one of the partner organisations leading the conference, said: &#8220;We\u2019re    delighted to have had such a positive response from this remarkable group of    international experts. Their understanding of the interactions between    communities, investment and regeneration ranges from across the world, and    will help anyone interested in heritage projects respond to the \u2018shifting    sands\u2019 of their own national and local economies.<\/p>\n<p>Delegates from all parts of the globe can come to Glasgow in November and    benefit from an equally international range of insights into heritage projects    and finances. \u00a0This conference is the best, and probably the only way to    explore such a diversity of perspectives on the universal heritage challenge:    developing conservation projects that are sustainable both for local    communities and in light of wider economic imperatives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Welcoming the initiative, Baile Hanzala Malik, Glasgow City Council\u2019s    Executive Member for International Affairs, and Chairman of Glasgow City    Heritage Trust, (GCHT), another partner in the event, said: &#8220;Sourcing    sustainable funding for regeneration projects is a vitally important topic,    and we welcome this opportunity to bring together key international experts to    explore case studies and solutions from across the world. \u00a0We also looking    forward to showcasing examples of award-winning heritage regeneration projects    here in Glasgow to an international audience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The conference is brought by a partnership of the Institute of Historic    Building Conservation (IHBC), the Association of Preservation Trusts (UKAPT),    and the Glasgow City Heritage Trust (GCHT).
