{"id":15760,"date":"2017-05-31T17:22:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-31T16:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=15760"},"modified":"2017-05-31T17:22:00","modified_gmt":"2017-05-31T16:22:00","slug":"cpre-dismisses-local-plan-consultation-as-developers-charter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=15760","title":{"rendered":"CPRE dismisses local plan consultation as \u2018developer\u2019s charter\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/CPRE_SouthHamsareaMay2017-e1496247705829.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-15762\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/CPRE_SouthHamsareaMay2017-292x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The Campaign to Protect of Rural England (CPRE) has attacked the joint local plan process in the South Hams, which it has condemned as a \u2018developer\u2019s charter\u2019.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Mr Justin Haque and Dr Katy Brown from the CPRE South Hams have both issued a statement declaring: \u2018The only way to accurately describe the JLP consultation is an expensive PR exercise, or put more simply, a \u2018faux consultation\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In the South Hams alone, both the meetings that we have hosted as the CPRE and those held by the parish councils have illustrated that the public\u2019s sense of frustration and outrage is only matched by the corresponding display of patronising arrogance of the council\u2019s representatives\u2026\u2026\u2026In summary, the veneer of a JLP public consultation in combination with the changes to the local planning guidelines will now render the National Planning Policy Framework simply as a \u2018developer\u2019s charter\u2019. For the most part, we, the public, are ignored by our national and local politicians.\u2019<u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p>The Consultation Institute writes:<\/p>\n<p>The Campaign to Protect of Rural England claims that consultation over the planning blueprint for the future has been reduced to an expensive PR exercise which has left members of the public frustrated and outraged. Meanwhile, district council representatives have been accused of \u2018patronising arrogance\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>CPRE South Hams chairman Justin Haque claims figures used to justify the number of homes needs in the region are \u2018sensationally wrong\u2019 and points to the 504 homes earmarked for Dartington alone, which the parish has been told it will get whether its wants them or not.
