The Grade I-listed hall, in Derbyshire, is recognised as \u2018one of the finest examples of 18th-century architecture anywhere\u2019, said barrister Nina Pindham. But its \u2018setting\u2019 is now under threat from house-building plans on Kedleston and Memorial Road, just 1.7 miles away, she argued. Despite the need for more new homes in the area,\u00a0Amber Valley Borough Council\u00a0had refused planning permission for the scheme. But, after developers Catesby Estates Limited appealed, that decision was reversed by a government planning inspector in August last year. Outline planning permission was granted, much to the horror of local resident, Peter Steer, a member of campaign group Kedleston Voice. Now Mr Steer is asking Mrs Justice Lang to overturn the inspector’s ruling, claiming he misinterpreted government planning policy.<\/p>\n
