{"id":15543,"date":"2017-04-28T18:26:09","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T17:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=15543"},"modified":"2017-04-28T18:26:09","modified_gmt":"2017-04-28T17:26:09","slug":"ihbcs-2017-yearbook-now-out-on-infrastructure-inspired-by-ihbcs-2017-annual-school-and-introduced-by-hlfs-ros-kerslake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=15543","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s 2017 Yearbook now out: On \u2018infrastructure\u2019, inspired by IHBC\u2019s 2017 Annual School and introduced by HLF\u2019s Ros Kerslake"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/page55\/page58\/files\/stacks-image-52a4485.jpg\" alt=\"IHBC Yearbook 2017\" width=\"240\" height=\"348\" \/>More than 5500 copies of the IHBC\u2019s <em>Yearbook<\/em> for 2017 are being distributed to members and sector leaders, containing feature articles linked to the IHBC\u2019s 2017 Annual School theme of \u2018Historic Transport Infrastructure\u2019, as well as the regular IHBC resources, all introduced by Ros Kerslake, Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the key funding resource in UK heritage conservation.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ros Kerslake writes: \u2018I\u2019m delighted to have been asked to provide the foreword to this 2017 edition of the IHBC <em>Yearbook<\/em> which explores the important theme of local and national infrastructure, and the skills required for its conservation and regeneration\u2026. Guaranteeing a future for these buildings by sensitively adapting them to new uses is, of course, possible only with the participation of skilled conservation professionals\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>David McDonald, IHBC President, said: \u2018Paving the way for the 2017 Annual School, this edition of the <em>Yearbook<\/em> explores the theme of infrastructure and its complex implications for our profession. We need to be aware of the challenges and demands which will arise from major infrastructure projects and ensure that we have the skills to deal with them.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018Each year our <em>Yearbook<\/em> extends the IHBC\u2019s reach ever further beyond our own membership, as now it boasts a circulation of some 5500 copies to industry and sector leaders, regulators, to specialist and non-specialist bodies, and to individuals that might benefit from a better knowledge of the IHBC\u2019s work.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The articles within this issue of the yearbook include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Heritage perspectives on infrastructure: Dave Proudlove\u2019s perspective on the theme including the government\u2019s commitment to enable economic growth through public investment in infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Historic harbours: Hilary Wyatt, winner of the 2016 IHBC Gus Astley Student Award, highlights the urgent needs for the conservation sector to engage with the challenges of harbour infrastructure, especially in the context of climate change<\/li>\n<li>The Dublin Principles and the architecture of industry in Ireland: Paul McMahon, COTAC trustee and president of ICOMOS Ireland\u2019s Education and Training National Scientific Committee, writes about conservation principles and training in Ireland, with a particular focus on the \u2018Dublin Principles\u2019 &#8211;
