{"id":15517,"date":"2017-04-28T17:38:39","date_gmt":"2017-04-28T16:38:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=15517"},"modified":"2017-04-28T17:38:39","modified_gmt":"2017-04-28T16:38:39","slug":"cct-lead-theft-at-st-john-the-baptist-inglesham-wiltshire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=15517","title":{"rendered":"CCT: Lead Theft at St John the Baptist, Inglesham, Wiltshire"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/CCT_website280417-e1493397495227.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15518 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/CCT_website280417-255x300.jpg\" alt=\"CCT website 280417\" width=\"255\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The Churches Conservation Trust has announced that on Tuesday 11th April they discovered that the lead roof covering had been stolen from Inglesham church.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The CCT writes:<\/p>\n<p>This puts at risk the internationally important collection of wallpaintings saved by William Morris in the late 1800s.<\/p>\n<p>A temporary roof covering was put in place within 24 hours of discovery to try to prevent water ingress damaging the wallpaintings and an alarm system is being fitted.<\/p>\n<p>The Churches Conservation Trust will now work with local volunteers and supporters of the church\u00a0 to raise funds to provide a permanent covering to safeguard the future of this much loved and historically significant church.
