{"id":14966,"date":"2017-02-18T17:24:40","date_gmt":"2017-02-18T17:24:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=14966"},"modified":"2017-02-18T17:51:43","modified_gmt":"2017-02-18T17:51:43","slug":"ihbc-nw-branch-sorts-foundations-for-2017-annual-school-training-substructure-to-transport-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=14966","title":{"rendered":"IHBC NW Branch sorts foundations for 2017 Annual School: Training substructure to \u2018Transport Infrastructure\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/2017school\/images\/Venue_MOSI.jpg\" alt=\"Manchester steam train\" width=\"301\" height=\"202\" \/>The IHBC\u2019s North West Branch, which will host the 2017 Annual School in Manchester in June, has some major events planned over the next few months as part of its build up to the theme for the School: \u2018Transport Infrastructure, the backbone of civilisation\u2019.<\/h3>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>North West Branch Chair Paul Hartley and lead organiser of the School, Katie Wray, said: \u20182017 is a really exciting year for the NW Branch as we are thrilled to be hosting the Annual School.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The theme of infrastructure is very topical particularly with the devolution agenda, Manchester Mayoral elections in May and Transport for the North bedding down. When we came to plan the School we realised there was a wealth of potential themes and speakers and we therefore embarked on a \u2018Build up to the National\u2019 series of events, which includes talks on Crossrail, Forth Bridge and horse infrastructure!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Alongside this we are running are usual events, including the launch of local, Dr Julian Holder\u2019s book on Neo-Georgian Architecture, and we\u2019re aiming to hold a celebratory event later in the year on Conservation Areas. All this of course wouldn\u2019t be possible without the passion and commitment of our members, of which we luckily have an abundance!\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Events include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/resources\/Neo-Georgian-Book-Launch_28-Feb-17.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Neo-Georgian Architecture 188-1970<\/a> Book Launch: 6pm, 28 February<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ihbc.org.uk\/resources\/Forth-Road-Bridge-Lecture.-2-Mar-17.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Build up to the National Conservation of the Forth Bridge<\/a>: 6pm, 2 March<\/li>\n<li>Albert Dock 175 Interpro IHBC &amp; IstructE: 6pm, 23 March (Albert Dock, Stanley Dock and SAVE). \u00a0Details TBC<\/li>\n<li>Longbottoms Cast Iron Works: 9:45am, 12 April.
