Several scenes were filmed along the exterior of the fort which was transformed to resemble Wapping in the early 19th century.<\/p>\n<p>Built on the Thames Estuary by Henry VIII, Tilbury Fort was important in defending London from the 16th century up to the Second World War.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Collard, English Heritage\u2019s Property Manager at Tilbury Fort, said: \u2018We had to strike a careful balance between the protection of the historic site which is in our care and the film-makers\u2019 requirements, which I feel we achieved very well.
