\"Bonfield<\/a>The IHBC is alerting members to the publication of the Bonfield Review \u2013on consumer advice and protection relating to home energy efficiency and renewable energy measures, covering also older and traditional buildings \u2013 which is seeking feedback by 31 January 2017.<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

IHBC Policy Committee Vice Chair, Green Panel convenor, and Heritage Chair at the STBA, John Preston said: \u2018The Review was announced when funding was withdrawn for the Green Deal, and has now been issued under the title Each Home Counts<\/em>.\u00a0 It will provide the basis for future Government initiatives in relation to domestic retrofit. \u00a0As such, this Review is of the highest importance for anyone concerned with older and traditional buildings.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Described as an \u2018Independent Review of Consumer Advice, Protection, Standards and Enforcement for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy\u2019, the Review was commissioned, and has been published by Government.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018While author Peter Bonfield, CEO of construction industry body BRE, and his Review team talked at length to industry and consumer bodies, there has been minimal involvement with the wider public and interest groups, notably those with expertise in relation to traditional buildings.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018This is a matter of the utmost seriousness given the longstanding and ever more urgent need for radical change in industry standards and practice, not only for all traditional buildings, but also in relation to, for example, cavity wall insulation.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018The Review Team is now inviting feedback on the Review\u2019s recommendations and related proposals for action, to be submitted by 31 January 2017.\u00a0 It says that feedback will \u2018be considered in the context of implementation going forward\u2019, so I urge all IHBC members and NewsBlog readers to download and circulate the Report, and to start thinking about responses.\u2019<\/p>\n

Government writes:<\/p>\n

The Each Home Counts<\/em> review was launched in 2015 to consider issues relating to consumer advice, protection, standards and enforcement in relation to home energy efficiency and renewable energy measures in the UK.<\/p>\n

This report sets out the recommendations from the review chaired by Peter Bonfield, with workstreams led by industry representatives from across the sector. The review makes a number of key recommendations. In the next stage, industry will develop detailed plans to implement the vision set out in the report.<\/p>\n

As part of the initial stage of planning, the Review Team invites feedback on the review recommendations and related proposals for action.<\/p>\n
