{"id":13965,"date":"2016-10-14T18:01:59","date_gmt":"2016-10-14T17:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=13965"},"modified":"2016-10-14T18:01:59","modified_gmt":"2016-10-14T17:01:59","slug":"ihbc-congratulates-heritage-trust-network-on-its-first-conference-and-agm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=13965","title":{"rendered":"IHBC congratulates Heritage Trust Network on its first conference and AGM"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/HTN_Conf_Board2016-e1476464411207.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13966\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/HTN_Conf_Board2016-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"HTN Conference 2016\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>Co-sponsor IHBC has welcomed the first conference of the Heritage Trust Network (HTN), successor to UKAPT, which took place in Birmingham\u2019s Custard Factory on 13-14 October, and closed with the new organisation\u2019s first AGM.<\/h3>\n<p>IHBC Director Sean O\u2019Reilly said: \u2018This evolution of the Heritage Trust Network from the UK Association of Preservation Trusts \u2013 the UKAPT \u2013 is very welcome.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018These changes recognise the huge role that Building Preservation Trusts continue to play in the regeneration and management of our heritage in the 21st century, from the most dramatic signature buildings to the most unassuming but no less valued places.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The IHBC is also delighted to have been able to support the organisation\u2019s conference this year as a partner as well as sponsor, helping celebrate the many \u2018Extraordinary people\u2019 working with BPTs across the UK, not least its own core supporters, staff and volunteers, including Malcolm Crowder OBE.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018As anticipated too, the event was also a great way for the IHBC to support our networks across the many other bodies central to the work of IHBC members as well as to BPTs.\u00a0 These range from the Heritage Lottery Fund to the Architectural Heritage Fund to national heritage bodies such as Historic England and Historic Environment Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Even more critical are the many local bodies helping secure the future of conservation and skills in their communities, such as the Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust, co-organiser of the &#8216;Wish You Were Here&#8217; conference on 20 October which includes the IHBC\u2019s President David McDonald among its speakers.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>For these reasons, and many more, it was especially good that IHBC trustee Bridget Turnbull, our Education Secretary, was also able to attend the event on behalf of the IHBC.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>For more about the Heritage Trust Network see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heritagetrustnetwork.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">www.heritagetrustnetwork.org.uk<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/wish-you-were-here-heritage-conference-tickets-26079392164\" target=\"_blank\">Find out more <\/a>and to book the Great Yarmouth conference, \u2018Wish you were here\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Co-sponsor IHBC has welcomed the first conference of the Heritage Trust Network (HTN), successor to UKAPT, which took place in Birmingham\u2019s Custard Factory on 13-14 October, and closed with the new organisation\u2019s first AGM.
