{"id":13071,"date":"2016-06-25T19:03:34","date_gmt":"2016-06-25T18:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=13071"},"modified":"2016-06-29T13:54:07","modified_gmt":"2016-06-29T12:54:07","slug":"ihbc-2016-school-launch-offers-more-power-to-the-people-caring-for-your-home-new-help-on-how-to-look-after-the-places-in-which-we-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=13071","title":{"rendered":"IHBC 2016 School launch offers more \u2018Power to the People\u2019: \u2018Caring for your Home\u2019 \u2013 New help on how to look after the places in which we live!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Caring_websitehomepage.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-13088\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Caring_websitehomepage-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Caring_websitehomepage\" width=\"231\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a>The IHBC has launched its \u2018Caring for your home\u2019 website at its 2016 School, offering an accessible guide to anyone seeking help in looking after their home; and while there\u2019s still work to be done on the resource \u2013 as a Beta test site \u2013 there\u2019s lots of help on offer there already.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>IHBC\u2019s Vice Chair Kathy Davies said: \u2018This is set to be a very useful new resource for home-owners and residents.\u00a0 I\u2019m delighted that the IHBC, with initiatives like this site, is making real contributions to the widest constituencies of heritage users.\u00a0 It is the perfect way for the IHBC to help \u2018join the dots\u2019 between all the players that shape the future of our heritage\u2019.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IHBC\u2019s Technical Committee, led by Janice Gooch, helped shaped the distinctive style of this resource.\u00a0 Janice said: \u2018This is a modern day resource that replaces the much respected publication of \u2018Stitch in Time\u2019, which we produced with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).\u00a0 This website sets out the core principles and forms a strong starting point for further development and progression, like any good conservation document.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Though aimed at the general householder, it is a great resource for anyone, professionals included.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Also, it will be developed further with the help of IHBC members and colleagues, but always remembering the key audience: the general public.
